Project Space : Milwaukee's Waters, Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River December 2006

This project brings together the past, present, and future of an integral part of Milwaukee's environment by targeting its water and land resources. In display, photographic archives from the Milwaukee County Historical Society reveal a full and active past, and documentation from Google maps provides the current, aerial locations of my samplings. Those sixty samples, encapsulated in individually dated vials, hang as evidencery archives of visits to Milwaukee's resources. Visually earmarked as precious harbingers, their exterior presence reveals an internal necessity: we depend on our environment. Struggling with a need to visually enforce the importance of water in our daily lives, the displayed continuum of understanding traces its past to pose questions into its future.
